Relay For Life

The evening of April 25 and into the wee hours of April 26 I attended a Relay For Life event benefiting the American Cancer Society. Our team has worked hard over the last year and over $7,700 was raised. Congrats to Carol for her efforts as team captain! I spent most of the evening helping with the Car Smash - a donation of $1 gave you 3 hits on a car donated by a salvage company. It was an old Ford Escort. Due to the difficulty that folks had in truly bashing the car, we gave the Ford Escort a high rating for dent & ding purposes. Young and old had a blast smashing and bashing the car.

I sat down a while back and made a list of family, friends, and acquaintances that have been affected by cancer. Unfortunately, the list was too long. (Even one name is too long.) How many do you know that have encountered the cancer monster? Remembering those who had cancer 30-40 years ago to those who have it now, I recognize the benefits of all the research that has occurred. In addition to all the research that has occurred though, I believe that prayer has been the key ingredient.
