I am thankful for Scripture: God's Word. The Holy Bible. God speaking to me and to you. This is how I can know God. Know who He is. Know what He wants for me.
God's Word gives me hope. I see His love, grace, and mercy continually through out the Old Testament and into the New Testament. I see how His plan continues to unfold despite our human inadequacies. I see how He has used many people with faults to fulfill His plan. Hope. Promise.
Romans 15:4 (ESV)
For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
II Timothy 3:14-17 (ESV)
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
